‘Lorne – Market Round up’. I was very fortunate on Thursday morning to have shared breakfast with Westpac chief economist and financial forecaster Mr Bill Evans. His commentary was most encouraging and re-enforced the strength of the Australian f
inancial
markets compared to others around the world. His strong view that interest rates will further reduce by up to 75 basis points through the next 12 months, and the stabilizing of residential house prices through the coming corresponding period all go well to help improve consumer confidence in the market place.
He also forecasts the Australian dollar to hover around parity to the US dollar through the next 12 to 24 months.
All in all a great session and re-enforcement that the real estate market is well positioned to hold the current level of adjusted values and provide a solid platform for the future.
