Our Backyard

‘Lorne – Market Round up’. Interesting to note that the Reserve Bank of Australia kept the cash rate at 3% as our Australian economy continues to provide more positive signs of recent times than over the past years.

The RP data-Rismark Home Value Index results indicates that the housing market across Australia has continued to be steady and according to the same index home values across the five capital cities over the first 27 days of February have in fact increased by 0.2%.

Last week there were 2004 capital city auctions, up from 1,129 over the previous week. Across the 2004, the combined capital city auction clearance rate was recorded at 63.5% up from 58.8% over the previous week.

‘Lorne – Weekly report’. Our Lorne office has “jumped from the blocks” in the first week of autumn with three contracted deals in the first seven days. With two of the three transactions being in excess of $1m and one of these two selling for in excess of the asking price (under multiple buyer interest) the local market has continued to produce sales when asking prices are at re-aligned levels to attract buyer interest.

Our great town is very well positioned to reward those that have or are looking to invest into the immediate Lorne area. After a discussion with a coastal client over the past week and suggesting that they check out what a million dollars would buy them in other costal towns it was re – enforced to me the value Lorne currently represents.
