Lorne – Market Round Up
A recent survey has found the majority of Australians are comfortable with their finances and are saving money at record levels.
The tenth annual National Consumer Sentiment Survey from Mortgage Choice tapped 1,015 Australians and discovered that 56.9% were either “very comfortable” or “reasonably comfortable” with their individual financial situations.
When asked “how often do you worry about your finances”, just 16.2% said they worry on a daily basis, while 21.9% admitted to worrying on a monthly basis and 5.9% indicated they worry only once a year.
Over 33% of Australians saved more than 15% of their after tax income this year, and 41.6% of respondents with a mortgage admitted to having an after tax income buffer of three months or more.
The survey also found people feeling upbeat about the economy overall, with over 50% feeling it will remain “strong” throughout 2014.

Lorne – Weekly Report
Spring is all but over and Sunday kicks off the first day of Summer and a solid platform has been set that will hopefully see our property market perform better this year than it did last. But in saying this, sellers still need to keep their “feet on the ground” with expectations as the market is only improving and it is certainly not “on fire”.
Last week we were hopeful of concluding the month with a couple of negotiations and true to our forecast I can report two sales in excess of a million dollars at 26 Dorman Street and 150 Smith Street both being contracted in the last seven days. And with the contracted sale of a Cumberland apartment it capped off a good final week of Spring.
As Lorne gathers momentum for our summer this weekend sees our town play host to the Victorian Liberal Party as their ministers and party faithful descend on Lorne for their annual State Conference.

Lorne – You must have a look at this
In one of arguably Lorne best locations the two storey, three bedroom townhouse at 6 Grove Road has just had a price adjustment to $795,000 and represents as good a value as anything currently on the market in Lorne. Check it out here.

Lorne – Great local slang
I’m buggered, broke and bewildered – “Stuffed, underpaid and overworked”.
