OUR BACKYARD – AIREYS INLET

As we reach the midpoint of autumn, our little towns come alive with the sounds of footy boots lacing up and netball uniforms being pulled on. Country towns love their local footy, and the communities we call home are no exception.

Across our four offices, we proudly sponsor teams competing in the Barwon, Bellarine, and Colac district leagues. As a company, we’re deeply committed to this part of the community, both financially and through volunteering. Many of our employees have spent countless hours on the field, behind the scenes at the club, or serving up snacks at the tuck shop.

You’d be hard pressed to find a member of our team who hasn’t spent a significant part of their life on or around the footy field in winter. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!

We are looking forward to cheering on Lorne Dolphins, Apollo Bay Hawks, Aireys Inlet Eels, and Anglesea Football Club in their upcoming matches. Best of luck to all teams see you on the sidelines.

Cape Otway recorded its lowest yearly rainfall on record in 2024, highlighting the dry conditions across the region. In the eastern Otways, Aireys Inlet also experienced significantly lower rainfall, measuring 166mm below average.

In response, Forest Fire Management Victoria has identified several locations in the South West as priority areas for planned burns. As part of these efforts, burns commenced yesterday at Moggs Creek and Boonah to help reduce fuel loads and mitigate fire risks heading into the cooler months.

With drier than usual conditions impacting our region, these measures play a crucial role in protecting our coastal and hinterland communities. Stay informed and be fire aware as we navigate these changing environmental conditions
