OUR BACKYARD – ANGLESEA

The heavens have opened over the last 24 hours with powerful rain, winds and lightening. After what has been a great January weather wise with plenty of fantastic beach days ‘La Nina’ induced weather conditions have produced some of the most dramatic lightning storms in recent memory up and down the Great Ocean Road. As described by the Bureau of Meteorology “In Australia, La Niña increases the chance of cooler daytime temperatures – reducing the risk of heatwaves and bushfires. But it tends to create wetter than normal conditions and can increase the frequency of tropical cyclones.” One great positive of La Nina is warmer surface ocean temperatures which we are currently enjoying to the fullest with water temps around 22 degrees. This is a massive benefit as for the majority of the year in Victoria, wetsuits are not just recommended, but literally mandatory if your contemplating spending anytime in our chilly waters after March.

Our holiday team have just started fielding a couple of calls in relation to the inevitable minor flooding problems at a handful of properties. As always, we will work with our property owners and town trades people to ensure these blocked storm water drains are rectified as soon as possible. Looking forward to the end of the rain and another beach day Saturday!
