The surf coast is still buzzing with real estate activity, we have been busy appraising properties this week – the New Year is looking fruitful for keen buyers!

Last Sunday was a fabulous day for the official opening of the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club. Great Ocean Road Real Estate are proud major sponsors, and I was fortunate to be included in the celebrations. Congratulations to Wes Smith Commodore 2012-2022, the new Commodore Kate Stanley and the building committee, all the life members, the social and catering committee. A great building, a great club and a great celebration!

After more than 10 years in the making the much-loved Anglesea Motor Yacht Club (AMYC) officially welcomed members and the community to its redeveloped clubhouse. It’s an amazing space and the new upstairs floor plan perfectly captures the beautiful vista from the expanded deck areas boasting views from Point Addis to Point Roadknight.

The previous building was originally constructed in the early 1960’s, largely from volunteer labor and working bees – something that is unheard of today. The new clubhouse is the result of an incredible amount of work done by equally incredible people over a very long period of time. The official opening included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by recently retired Commodore Wes Smith and fellow life members.

The club is the home of the famous Rusty Anchor Bar, the popular surf coast Roo Run, and hosts the annual Rock to Ramp swim conducted by ASLSC. It is the base for Surf Life Saving Club patrols during the summer months. It has an active sailing program and is the base for the Rusty Anglers fishing group.

Above all else, the club is a volunteer-led organisation, maintaining its strong sense of community spirit, with a friendly and very social vibe. Just a great place with great people.
