$1.7 MILLION ROAD UPGRADES COMMENCE

Works are now underway for the $1.7 million road upgrades in Pascoe Street with the initial works commencing at the Nelson Street roundabout this week. The initial works include resurfacing of the current roundabout to improve safety along with an upgrade to the drainage infrastructure in the street to significantly reduce the flooding issues residents have experienced in Pascoe Street during heavy rainfall.

The project forms part of Council’s wider investment in upgrading local roads across the coastal townships this year, valued at $7 million.

Further stages of the Pascoe Street project include construction of a new roundabout and raised pedestrian crossings at the Moore Street intersection, as well as a new mid-block raised pedestrian crossing opposite the off-street car park and public toilets. The pedestrian safety upgrades are supported by a $900,000 Transport Accident Commission (TAC) grant. These improvements will support safer access between the shopping precinct, community facilities and the foreshore.

Construction is expected to be completed by August.
