LORNE – HERE AND THERE

For those that missed it last Sunday, Lorne’s Anzac Day service was very memorable for many different reasons. The dawn service at the Lorne Cenotaph on the foreshore saw in excess of 200 attendees stand side by side to honour those who had fallen in serving their country. At the picturesque location overlooking Louttit Bay, Pakitu Henry delivered an emotion charged address that didn’t leave a dry eye, as the new look R.S.L. Lorne branch committee lifted the Anzac Day commemorations to a level we haven’t seen before.

As daylight broke and exposed the colourful set up surrounding the Cenotaph you could not be anything but impressed. The hundreds of handmade poppies, the manicured surrounds and a huge gathering completed the scene for what was a very well organised and touching commemorative service. The natural beauty of where we stood reminding everyone as to how lucky we are to be in Lorne and the first light screeching of the cockatoos completing the “Lorne signature”. Congratulations to all!

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

The coastal market continues, just like most other lifestyle and leisure markets, continuing to perform with resilience that defies the seasonal nature of autumn. As stock levels continue to dry and with purchaser numbers continuing to be many and active, the coast is seeing a very strong shift in selling strategies. Pick up the property guide in the Surf Coast Times or Geelong Advertiser and the proportionate number of auctions to total number of properties being offered for sale has been increasing on a regular basis. Then to learn on Saturday evening the consistent trend of 80 plus percent clearance rates and the prices that have been achieved and one thing is consistently clear – “you cannot afford to implement a strategy that caps your price!”

In our office we have Karen Stribling and Tyrone Provan in the middle of an intensive auction training schedule learning the skills from one of the highest profile auction trainers in Australia. If you would like to speak further about selling strategies in this market, feel free to speak to anyone of our team.

Kind regards,
