OUR BACKYARD – LORNE

Welcome to 2024! What a great start to the year, the town is bursting at the seams with holiday makers enjoying all the aspects that make Lorne so special!! Little nippers are tearing up the beach, and the sought after restaurants are full of happy patrons. I was lucky enough to attend opening day of ‘The Clam’ restaurant, located next to the Lorne Cinema – with its fresh vibe the expansive outdoor alfresco space accommodating the well-known Melbourne institution, Shandong Mama – get down and enjoy!

We are proud to report one of our own, Patrick Wheadon, Great Ocean Road Holidays consultant bravely came to the rescue of a drowning tourist at Artillery Rocks.  Pat’s mum, Paula saw a man way out in the water and in trouble, she quickly called Pat who was close by in Wye River, being a member of the Wye River Surf Club and surf skills up his sleeve Pat grabbed his board and in the tough conditions brought the man to safety, who was then met by emergency services for extra treatment. Well done Pat, a reason why joining a Surf Club and learning vital skills of navigating the ocean is an integral part of coastal living.

IF you are wanting to come and enjoy Lorne or neighbouring coastal towns over the January break, Great Ocean Road Holidays has some last-minute accommodation options available, please click here for more information.
