Lorne – Market Round Up
As many of our visitors arrive for their summer vacation it is always a great opportunity to catch up and see what has been going on in the “big smoke”. With me, my topic of interest is of course real estate and the property market and it is always good to get a report for my colleagues working at the coal face.
There appears to be a consistent message that I am hearing from sources to whom’s opinion I value and trust. It appears that the Melbourne residential property market can be best summarised as showing great strength and depth through the Melbourne Cup weekend. But again from those whose knowledge is second to none it appears that “the wind has come out of the sails” of what was a strong surging period through winter and spring. The real test for our coastal market will be for the period that lay ahead.

Lorne – Weekly Report
Compliments of the season to all and great to see the numbers that were rolling into Lorne prior to Christmas Day and that have continued through Boxing Day and today. With the temperature expected in the low thirties the town is likely to be rockin over the weekend.
As the month of December draws to a close it is encouraging to note that the only changing characteristic in our market place has been a slight increase in volumes of transactions from the same period 12 months ago. We are yet to see the mid-year spike witnessed in the Melbourne market have any influence on the coastal scene and although we are optimistic we are also cautious. Cautious to ensure that the advice that we provide is done so with the intimate knowledge we have of our local market that is still performing well below the levels of six to eight years ago.
Our optimism is drawn from the deals we have written over the past six months knowing that where advice has been needed and pricing correct an outcome has been achieved.
Given that this will be my last blog for the year I wish you well and with fingers crossed 2014 will be more productive for us all than 2013.
