The biggest day on the Aireys calendar is just around the corner! The Aireys Inlet Fair is on again on Saturday, 31 October. With food, rides and animals, there’s plenty of fun to be had, and it’s a great way to spend a spring day over the long weekend.

With the beautiful weather lately, the wildflowers are out in full force. Looking for orchids adds a bit of fun to a bushwalk, and there’s one in particular to keep an eye out for.
Angair is searching for the elusive Slender Greenhood, which usually flowers from September to October. It has three or four long, fleshy leaves and a single small, narrow flower with a pointed hood that bends forwards.
Previously recorded at four sites in the Anglesea district, only two specimens have been found recently, both after they had finished flowering. If you’re out walking, keep your eyes peeled. A photo of your find could help locate this little orchid while it’s still in flower.
