Our Backyard – Lorne

My working day this morning started at the same early hour just before day break in a space overlooking the Mooloolaba Surf Club. As I put fingers to the keyboard the early morning temperature hovered around a pleasant 17°, at the same time I was intrigued to view that the Lorne temperature was 20° with a mercury tipped to rise to 24. It’s a great time in Lorne with our climate beginning to kiss the cooler months goodbye, days getting longer, daylight savings just over a week away and the AFL season about to enter its final week, there is so much on offer over the coming weeks. Currently the celebrations to mark 100 years since the start of construction on the Great Ocean Road are well underway and a must see is ‘The Story of the Road’ in the pop-up cinemas at located at Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne, Wye River and Apollo Bay. Then the following weekend all the usual Grand Final celebrations (including the big day at the Lorne Angling and Aquatic Club) and then Thursday of the following week the Lorne Festival of Performing Arts Gala Opening event. All the while here in our Lorne office, its business as usual.

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

Its been great to report over the past weeks the ongoing strength of the Apollo Bay office with the ongoing optimism of the same thing happening in Lorne.

And it appears that forecast is beginning to materialise with the contracting of six transactions over the past seven days. Each of these deals were strong results with one striking new Lorne residence in excess of $2 million and another established local home over $1.5 million, two Wye River properties and two further in Lorne. What was equally as pleasing was the diversity of each sale across each market sector and how demand was equally spread further reinforcing our optimism, who knows what tomorrow will bring but the early indicators are a nice sign!

LORNE – A LITTLE SECRET

It might be a good plan to take the inland route into Lorne over next couple of months, as the new single lane “Bailey Bridge” at Moggs Creek caters for the single lane traffic movements.

LORNE – QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“I’d rather regret the things I’ve done, than regret the things I haven’t done”.
