‘Lorne – Market Round up’.
The current financial year draws to a close through the weekend and we can reflect that the cogs of the unique coastal leisure market have begun to re-engage after the previous year which recorded lowest volumes of turnover of recent decades. The positive that can be drawn from the past twelve months is that consumers in the leisure sector have started to re-spend, albeit still very price sensitive. Twelve months ago there was almost no market irrespective of wherever the price sat. Consumer confidence seems to be gradually improving. In fact according to Westpac- Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment survey rose 4.7% during the month of June and is now back into territory where optimism appears to be outweighing pessimism. Let’s hope July continues the trend and sets the platform for the ensuing twelve months. ‘Lorne – Weekly report’. The past week has been a tough one for the town with the horrific football injury to local Casey Tutungi while playing for the South Barwon Football and Netball club. http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2013/06/24/367837_news.html The entire town of Lorne has looked to rally behind Casey and his family after he severely damaged his spinal cord along with his 4th and 5th vertebra. He was operated on at the Austin Hospital and his spine has been stabilised. The real damage is to his spinal cord and its functions which controls his body’s movements. Spinal injuries results in swelling and inflammation which can take considerable time to subside. Its only then that assessment of injury can be completed. For this reason, Casey will remain in the spinal unit at the Austin hospital where he is receiving the best of care. All our love and support is with Casey and his family.
