‘Lorne – Market Round up’. Last week I reported on the RP data report and the large reduction of transactions, specifically in our leisure markets and this week I thought it would be interesting to focus on some of the other demographic and dwelling types as reported in our region. At the time of the 2011 Census there were a total of 115,517 dwellings across the Barwon Region. Of these dwellings 81.7 per cent of these were occupied on the night of the census. Interestingly the Surf Coast / Bellarine Region recorded significantly lower levels of occupied dwellings on census night (60.6 per cent) reflecting the fact that many of these unoccupied homes are likely to be holiday rentals or second homes. What
made Lorne even more unique is the fact only 22.5% of homes were occupied on census night, which really highlights the seasonality that we are all challenged with in managing and sustaining businesses within our local township. ‘Lorne – Weekly Report’. Not a lot of activity on the real estate front over the past week but certainly not for the lack of all team members “racking over” past clients and enquiry to create leads and opportunities. If you’re lucky enough to be in Lorne for the weekend drop down into the main street when on Saturday the local community is rallying behind the Casey Tutungi Appeal. A number of our traders have pledged their days takings to the appeal, there will be a BBQ, buskers and an all-around vibe that makes you feel sooo proud to be a part of a town like Lorne. We would love to see you down there and with the Football and Netball teams having the bye this weekend it is sure to be a great atmosphere. The Lorne Club has come up with a ground breaking inititavie of a gurnsey that will be worn on the last home and away game of the year against Alvie. This unique stripe carries the colors of Casey’s three beloved Clubs whom he has represented with pride – Geelong Football Club, South Barwon Football Club and of course the mighty Dolphins.
