Lights, Action…..Surf! Netflix Comes to Town

If you have spent any time at Point Roadknight beach over the last couple of months you may have noticed a large film production crew shooting a new series called Surviving Summer which concluded filming this month. Netflix commissioned the 10-episode teen surfing drama, which began filming in early March, from Melbourne based Werner Film Productions. Our Holiday Rental Department have been heavily involved with the Werner Productions crew as they utilised, for cast and crew accommodation, approximately 35 of our managed holiday rentals.   

The Surviving Summer series has been created by Joanna Werner and Josh Mapleston. Sky Katz (Raven’s Home) stars as the titular character of Summer, a fierce Brooklyn teen who is sent Down Under to live with family friends in a tiny coastal town of Shorehaven (Anglesea’s stage name in this case) on the Great Ocean Road. Starring alongside are Brazilian rising star João Gabriel Marinho (Malhação), Kai Lewins, Savannah La Rain and in her first foray into acting, five-time Queensland Junior State Surf Champion Lilliana Bowrey. See the below image of the cast training at Urban Surf prior to filming.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Surviving Summer on Netflix over the coming months as it not only features Anglesea but footage from the up and down the beautiful Great Ocean Road.
