LORNE – HERE AND THERE

Caulfield Cup for many is the start of the Melbourne Spring Racing Campaign and its fair to say that even the coast turns an interest to the sounds of crashing hoofs. Whether it’s the horses or the fun times that surround the campaign there is always plenty of interest on the coast. Following tomorrows Caulfield races, the focus will shift to nearby Geelong for their heavily promoted Geelong Cup on Wednesday and then of course the race that stops the nation on the first Tuesday in November. For those coming to Lorne for the long weekend there is a fair bit going on.

For the racing enthusiasts it all starts with the Melbourne Cup Calcutta Auction on the Monday evening with multiple sweep stakes opportunities and of course the major horse draw. Once you’ve secured your horse and studied the form, the Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club is the place to be for Cup Day. Kicking off at 11am with free champagne, chicken salad and nibbles. Happy hour drink prices during every race, an onsite bookie, fashions on the field, TV’s inside and out – its guaranteed to be a great day. For all details on both events go to:

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

Real estate trends on the coast have continued to be positive and for the first time in a long while we have seen a sprinkling of multiple interest on individual properties. The past week has seen residences at 7 Neade Street, 3/11 Staughton Avenue and 6 Fern Avenue all be contracted at or very close to their asking price. But without doubt there was one result which was simply outstanding and that was the sale of 3 Anderson Court Lorne. A property that our team believed would attract buyer interest in the high $900,000’s to $1 million and it was subsequently listed for $1,025,000. Our team quickly exposed great buyer interest and had three parties all saying they wanted to purchase the property. Our team worked together to set up a strategy to give everyone the same opportunity to purchase and it was successfully contracted for $200,000 over the asking price. A sensational result with an ecstatic vendor, a happy purchaser and two underbidders eager to secure a Lorne residence.

LORNE – A LITTLE SECRET

For those who love Lorne as much as I do, I’m sure will be glad to hear that two major “eye sores” have been removed/relocated from the Lorne Foreshore landscape. The ugly Barwon Water metre has been moved from the central foreshore grassed area, into the trees and the view impeding structure at the skate park has been removed. Just goes to show that if you believe in achieving an outcome, you will achieve your goal.
