Our Backyard Anglesea & Torquay
Our Backyard Anglesea & Torquay

We have certainly had 4 seasons over the last week, sweltering and swimming one day and the next sitting in front of the fire watching the rain pour down. I hate to say it but it seems if you’re on the coast Monday – Friday, the weather is beautiful and then as soon as the weekend arrives along with our guests, winter hits!

It’s never great for us sales agents showing property when it’s not the best conditions and showcasing houses at their finest, however as you know I always see the silver lining. If you’re a savvy buyer there is no better day to make an offer on a property than when it’s quiet through open for inspections and if you’re ever going to truly see a property, then rain and storms will bring out any weaknesses and also demonstrate the light aspect.  Houses will always bring out intangible emotions, how you feel when you step inside, mind ticking over of what changes you would implement to make it your own etc. if you’re a buyer and go back to see a property for the second or even third time, you will always focus on different things. Agents will have already planned out any changes or have solid recommendations around cosmetic updates or floor plan alterations, so it’s totally worthwhile asking our opinion… plus we love to chat!

Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November marks the 101st anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18). Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11 am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. The photo below was taken on 11th November 1918.

I think our world continues to have many regions of unrest and modern day warfare, some days it can be overwhelming and unsettling of what our future holds and other impacts taking place like global warming, environmental disasters, drought etc. When I take my mind to those places and uneasiness sets in, I drive this coastline, walk on the beach or hit the national park for a slice of serenity.  I always come away feeling grateful for being fortunate to live in such an incredible country but more than that, this bubble of spectacular loveliness that is on The Great Ocean Road… from Torquay to Apollo Bay and everything in between. For that I am truly thankful and I will be thinking of those soldiers and the gift they have given us.
