LORNE – HERE AND THERE

A major celebration is coming our way as preparations are on track for the grand celebration of the Great Ocean Roads 100th Year. The famous road is the world’s largest war memorial having been built by WW1 service men and 2019 heralds the centenary of commencement of construction.

The centrepiece of the event series is a documentary titled ‘The Story of the Road’, which will show how the road came to be – detailing its construction by World War I returned servicemen and their lives as they built the now 243 kilometre road, joining the isolated towns lining the western Victorian coastline.

Launched as part of an event series which include gala screenings and pop-up cinemas housed in shipping containers across the region, showing short films specific to each location. Finally, an integrated QR trail combines augmented reality, film and art to tell the story of the road through various beacons and newly designed circular seating installations dotted along the route.

Lock in September 18, 6:30pm at the Lorne Theatre and to secure your ticket go to www.visitgreatoceanroad.org.au

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

Its been encouraging to watch the Melbourne property market auction results over the past month and observe the clear trend of increasing clearance rates that have been emerging. A number of factors have continued to this post-election outcome that has seen sales rates climb from the mid 50% range to the mid 70% range in a relevant short time. According to Domain economist Trent Wiltshire, there are far fewer homes going to auction currently after more than a year of failing house prices. The ones that are auctioned at the market though, are selling at rates not seen since 2017. Wiltshire believes that auctions are likely to continue to sell strongly in Spring all going well for the “ripple effect” to add to our coastal optimism through our prime selling periods.

Auction clearance rates for both Melbourne and Sydney are at their highest levels since 2017 and the pointers continue to be good.  Our fingers are crossed!
